Band Rotunda

“In memory of King Edward, the Peace maker”. Reign 1901- 1910.

The Band Rotunda, a outstanding ornament to the town was raised by public canvas throughout the District. The handsome structure cost 500 pounds and it provided a platform of grandeur on which dignitaries were welcomed. Sir Joseph Ward, Lord Ranfurly, etc. addressed gatherings of four to eight thousand. Until the 1960’s the Rotunda was used for musical and district events.
