Good Sorts
We all know we have lots of people in our community who give their time and energy on a voluntary basis to clubs and organisations in Waimate.
Many of the projects, events, clubs and activities which make Waimate such a great place to live could not happen without the work of our volunteers.
Waimate2gether thinks the community should acknowledge these unsung heroes and so we will be having a monthly column that highlights the work of people and groups who make such an invaluable contribution yet go largely unrecognised.
Waimate High School (WHS) Student Volunteer Army (SVA) don’t mind getting their hands dirty and want to help make a difference in the Waimate community.
Waimate volunteer Geoff Lienert (74) gets some of his greatest enjoyment these days out of maintaining Waimates’ trackways and mountain bike tracks.
Just seeing the satisfaction and pleasure on peoples’ faces is what drives Raewyn Francis (70) to do volunteer work within the Waimate community.
New Zealand bush is where Waimate volunteer John Stevens (80) likes to spend a lot of his time, surrounded by New Zealand’s flora and fauna and of course, with man’s best friend, his dogs…..
We are asking you for nominations of people or groups who you think should be profiled in our monthly column.
You can drop your nominations into Community Link or send an email to waimate2gether@outlook.com, or phone Vanessa on 0204210206.
