What we do
Since 2018 Waimate2gether has supported local projects to help our community thrive, funded by the Department of Internal Affairs and its Community-Led Development Programme (CLDP).
We consulted with our community for ideas and brought them to life including revitalising the White Horse and Centrewood Park. We brought disc golf to Waimate, we coordinated the district’s first Winter Festival, and now we are focused on the Waimate Trail.
The CLDP ended in March 2024, but building our community and our district’s wellbeing through community projects doesn’t stop there. We’ve amalgamated the committees of the Waimate2gether Leadership Group and Pro-Ject Waimate and rebranded under Pro-Ject Waimate, trading as Waimate2gether so we can press on with the Waimate Trail.
We’re working with key project partners, including landowners, Te Runanga O Waihao, Waimate District Council, Department of Conservation and NZ Transport Agency.
This opportunity brings together shared areas of interest and builds on the strengths and gains made over the past five years through the CLDP.
Highlights are outlined in our strategic plan together with video footage that captures the projects managed by Waimate2gether over this time.
