Meeting Place

Described as a Maori Whare, the shelter displays distinctive carvings and the panels emphasize the harmonious first meeting between Maori Chief Te Huruhuru and Michael Studholme – first European settler. A Memorial Plaque honours their handshake – “In peace”. This meeting is depicted on the grain silos.
