The Waimate Spring Garden Competition

Following on from the success of last Year’s Summer Garden Competition, The Garden Circle and Greenfingers Garden Club are once again joining with Waimate2gether, to launch The Waimate Spring Garden Competition. Promotion for this competition will start in August and judging will be done October/November, so you have lots of time to get gardening and to get your entries in.

Keep your eyes open for entry forms for this competition which will be  in forthcoming issues of News and Views and the Waimate Trader.

We have listened to feedback received after the last competition, and will be broadening the range of categories and extending the sponsorship and number of prizes on offer. At this stage, we are planning to have the following categories;

Best Flat/Townhouse Garden.

Best Medium Town Garden.

Best Large Town Garden.

Best Garden under 2 years.

Best Kitchen Garden.

Best Country Garden.

Best Street of Gardens.

Overall Supreme Garden Award.

As we are still in the planning phase any other suggestions that you may have are more than welcome. Send your suggestions to peterv.waimate2gether@gmail.com

Each of these categories will be sponsored so there will be a significant number of extra prizes on offer. Details of sponsors and prizes will be announced in August.

I never cease to be amazed at the number of wonderful gardens that I see around town and in the country and this competition is a great opportunity to get recognition of the hard work that our gardeners put into their garden displays.

The last competition featured some great gardens and these have set a standard that will be hard to beat. I look forward to seeing a lot more new entrants for the Spring competition.
