May 8th 1873, St Augustines Church was consecrated. Built on land gifted by Michael Studholme. The architectual elegance of B.W. Mountford is recognised by category A, listing on New Zealand’s heritage register. The interior of this locally milled native timbered church is of exceptional beauty, as are the stained glass windows. The Rev.W.N. Pascoe – First Anglican Vicar for St Augustines presided over planning and erection of the church. On departure for Hokitika 1875, he was the recipient of a illuminated address – “To our worthy and well-beloved pastor”.

Bell Tower - A distinctive feature is the lantern tower, built in 1880 and the Lynch Gate in 1902.
